    • The following positions are open for the 2013/2014 school year:


    3L Representative (1 position) AND 2L Representative (2 positions)

  • The duties of the 2&3L Representatives shall be:
  • To serve as guides and leaders to the 1L Representatives, helping them to understand the polices and procedures of the BOR.
  • To be the liaison with their respective student body class members and the SBA, by answering student questions and bringing student issues and concerns to the SBA for review and consideration.
  • To make announcements in all classes that comprise upper-level students about any upcoming activities or events of the SBA.


    • Administrator

  • Be responsible for calling roll and keeping minutes of all meetings of the Executive Board and the Joint Board.
  • Determine if a quorum of the voting board (either Executive or Joint) is present at the meetings in order to transact business.
  • Make available minutes of the meetings to the SBA members and members of the Public who have an interest in viewing non-confidential proceedings of the SBA and be responsible for maintaining these By-laws and distributing the most recent version to each member of the SBA at the beginning of each new term of office.


    • Treasurer

  • Be responsible for the proper maintenance of all financial accounts of the SBA and all the student organizations.
  • Make all disbursements necessary for the prompt of the obligations of the SBA for which funds have been allocated by the BOR.
  • Develop and maintain monthly SBA Financial Report or as otherwise deemed necessary by the President and serve as Chairperson of the Finance Committee, if the President so desires to create one, with full voting rights therein.


    • Director of Activities

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate with the President, VP, and Chair of the BOR, all SBA events and activities, including but not limited to: Welcome Back Picnic, Grades Party, and House League Athletics.


    • Director of Intramurals

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate with the President, VP, and Chair of the BOR, all SBA intramural leagues and events.

Each night this week, several student organizations will join forces in welcoming our new and returning students to school. Listed below are the locations, times, and organizations.

    Monday, September 10, 2012: BLSA, La Raza, Pride, SMATT, LSRJ, and SALDF will be holding there event at El Dorado from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. El Dorado is located on 1030 Broadway Ave (between 10th and 11th, closer to 11th). There will be beverage specials and will have snacks and appetizers available as well.

    Tuesday, September 11, 2012: PAD, SIPLA, ELLS, ESLS, and BLS will be holding there event at Taste & Thirst from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Taste & Thirst is located on 715 4th Ave, San Diego, CA, 92101. They will be hosting a hot wing bar!

    Wednesday, September 12, 2012: CFELS, Women’s Law Caucus, Estate Planning Society, and PILF will be holding there event at Isola Pizza Bar from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Isola Pizza Bar is located on 1526 India Street, San Diego, CA 92101. They will be having delicious pizza, bruschetta, and drinks!

    Thursday, September 13, 2012: HLSA, APALSA, Amnesty International, Federalist Society, SALSA, and Moot Court will be holding there event at Dave & Busters from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Tentatively the groups were able to secure a semi-private area in the dining room, some party platters, game cards for the first 25 students, and they are kind enough and willing to drive people if they need rides. Dave & Busters is located at 2931 Camino Del Rio North, San Diego, CA 92108.

    Friday, September 14, 2012: SBA will hold the final event at Ivy Nightclub located at 600 F Street from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM. No cover if in by 10:30 PM. To ensure you get in, be there by 10:00 PM! Dancing and beverage specials all night long for California Western students and their guests downstairs. There is limited space so be sure to RSVP ASAP!

    The ABA Law Student Division 9th Circuit Spring meeting and Governor Elections is fast approaching. The Host Committee at the Whittier Law School and your Circuit leaders promise a fantastic Spring meeting. Registration is Free and open to non-ABA members.

    The meeting will include engaging panels and discussions with seasoned attorneys, networking opportunities, and catered events to encourage interactions and relationship-building and fellow law students from across the 9th Circuit.

    We will also elect the new 9th Circuit Governor for the 2012-2013 term. As voting members of the Circuit, ABA Representatives and SBA Presidents are especially encouraged to attend, or to send a proxy.

    If you are interested in running for the 9th Circuit Governor you still have time. Review the information on the ABA Law Student Division here.

    In the weeks to come, we will provide you with details about the meeting. In the meantime, please be sure to begin making your travel arrangements for the meeting. The goal is one hundred percent participation from all schools in our circuit.
