The Black Law Students Association at California Western is a chapter of a national organization (National Black Law Students Association). BLSA provides a forum and support system for Black law students. Anyone who is concerned about issues facing minority law students, especially Black law students, and committed to the recruitment and retention of Black law students at California Western is welcome to join.
Activities include: celebrations of Black History Month and Kwanzaa, the annual Soul Food Fair, first-year tutoring sessions, meetings with local judges and attorneys, and social events with other minority student organizations.
Through academic and social channels, we will develop young Black law students, and other minority law students, to be successful in the law. We will encourage Black law students, and other minority law students, to use the law to make a positive impact in their communities while in law school and throughout their lives. We seek to produce well-trained, compassionate, and tolerant lawyers and judges that will lead by example and provide models of success for Black and other minority youth.
